EVENT INFORMATION

General Reminders

First Aid and Safety

During Carnival hours, first aid is available for all Carnival attendees in Mamiya 107. HPD and Security officers will be stationed throughout Carnival grounds. Security: 808.944.5777; First Aid Booth: 808.943.3657.

Sound Booth

The Sound Booth is located on Chamberlain Drive in front of Mamiya and is available for information, lost and found items, and announcements. Please remind your students they can go there for help or if they get separated from parents.

Junior School Supervision

Students in kindergarten – grade 6 must be supervised by an adult or a sibling in ninth grade or older at all times during Carnival.

Campus Play Areas Off Limits

All fields and play spaces in the Junior School will be closed. This includes the play spaces at Omidyar (Upper and Lower), Kosasa (Scott Field and Barkwick Playground), and the O-Men play structure adjacent to the Middle Field basketball courts. Children are not allowed to play in these areas at any time during Carnival.

Policy Regarding Use of Cash and Scrip

Only scrip (no cash) will be accepted at Punahou booths or games, and only credit and debit cards (no cash) may be used to purchase scrip from Scrip Booths. Students will be able to purchase scrip using cash at Dillingham Box Office. All Sales Final.

Drop Off Area during Carnival Hours

For those with limited mobility or those using a rideshare service (Uber, Lyft, etc.), Carnival-goers may be dropped off in the Bishop Lot for easier access to the Carnival grounds. Drivers may enter Piper’s Pali from Wilder Ave. to access the Bishop Lot. Parking will not be available in Bishop Lot, this location is for drop offs only.

Bring a Bag

Please bring your own reusable bags to carry purchased items. Punahou Carnival reusable bags will be available for purchase from the Carnival Wear booth.

Police Drone Use at Carnival

To help ensure a safe and secure Carnival for our community, Punahou is partnering with the Honolulu Police Department (HPD) to support on-campus safety operations. In addition to uniformed officers on the ground, HPD may deploy a surveillance drone as part of its standard security practices for large public events.

The drone is operated by a licensed and trained HPD officer and typically flies at a high altitude, approximately 400 feet above campus. It is generally used to monitor the perimeter and overall flow of the event, and only in limited circumstances would it fly directly over Carnival grounds.

The drone provides a live video feed to officers in the Punahou Security Operations Center. It does not use facial recognition technology and does not record individuals.

The use of personal drones over campus at any time is prohibited.
